I finally saw this (it only recently got a UK release), and I agree with all of your review. Painful and raw and perfectly catching the 70s aesthetic, this was really a good film.

I too was underwhelmed by this movie. I liked it, but every time someone tells me it’s the best movie they’ve seen in years, I kind of want to tell them to go to the movies more often.

I really liked this movie. I read a really bad review of it after I watched it, and it made me sad because I really, really liked it. It was not pretentious, it didn’t mean to change the world; it was sweet, and mostly well-performed.

Me too. Every time I heard of this movie before I knew what it was about, I was convinced it was something similar to Thank You For Smoking.

In all seriousness, though, the makeup isn’t even as scary as on the poster. Dude looked more like a dog than a werewolf.

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment! I fully intended to get back within a few days of this post, but then I realized I really needed to let myself off the hook with regards to finals. As you know, it’s seriously stressful. But, when school is (mostly) done, I’ll be back and probably posting twice per day until I catch up again.

I meant to reply to this the other day but got side-tracked by all of my end-of-term schoolwork (I feel your pain there).

I’ve been really enjoying reading your reviews & now have this site in my daily bookmarks list to make sure I don’t miss an update. Not having a daily update is no big deal to me as I know when you do have time to post again it’ll be another quality post and the possibility of another movie I’ll end up researching and watching.

Thank you for your reviews – I love seeing a new one to read when I sit down with my coffee to grab 5 min for myself. Good luck getting through to the end of your semester.

The turbulence part was very short, but it’s possible I missed it. Even so, I think the context changes things—Nothing about the film has to do with Adams being desperate to get engaged. She’s been with her bf for 4 years, thought he was going to propose and when he didn’t, decided to do it herself. Even at the end, when she has her ~moment~ with Matthew Goode, she says she DOESN’T want to get engaged. So maybe just misleading editing in the trailer.
